Preparatory stage
CURRICULUM
At Sri KKEC School, the Primary Programme for Classes I to III is thoughtfully designed to nurture young learners during their formative years. As children transition from the pre-primary stage into formal schooling, the curriculum aims to strengthen their academic foundation while fostering curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
The programme offers a balanced blend of academic and co-curricular learning experiences. Core subjects such as Languages, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies are integrated with enriching activities that encourage exploration and experiential learning. Students are also introduced to art, music, craft, physical education, and other creative pursuits that contribute to their overall development.
Teaching at Sri KKEC School follows a child-centred and activity-based approach where students actively participate in the learning process. Lessons are designed to develop analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and independent learning habits. Equal importance is given to the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical growth of every child.
Mathematics learning focuses on building numerical understanding, logical reasoning, and practical application skills through engaging activities and hands-on experiences. Language learning enhances listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities while encouraging effective communication and creative expression.
The Environmental Studies curriculum encourages children to observe, question, explore, and understand the world around them. Through projects, group activities, experiments, and interactive learning experiences, students develop teamwork, observation skills, and environmental awareness.
At Sri KKEC School, learning is made meaningful and enjoyable through experiential methods, multi-sensory activities, and a supportive environment that inspires every child to grow with confidence and enthusiasm.
LANGUAGES
English is the primary medium of instruction at Sri KKEC School. The languages offered in the Primary section are English, Kannada, and Hindi.
In accordance with the Kannada Language Learning Act, 2015, special emphasis is placed on Kannada, ensuring that students develop proficiency in the language from the early years of schooling. Kannada is introduced from Class I, while Hindi is introduced from Class II onwards.
Language learning in the Primary years focuses on developing the four essential skills — listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Through engaging activities, exercises, storytelling, conversations, and creative tasks, students gradually strengthen their vocabulary, spelling, comprehension, and written expression skills.
The teaching of Kannada and Hindi is largely activity-oriented and interactive in nature. Children first learn through listening and verbal communication before gradually progressing to letter recognition, word formation, reading, and writing with the support of audio-visual aids, role play, and classroom interactions.
By Class III, students are able to read fluently, understand texts confidently, and express their ideas effectively in writing using appropriate grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure.
ASSESSMENT
At Sri KKEC School, we believe that young learners should experience education in a joyful and stress-free environment rather than being burdened by formal examinations. Assessment is therefore carried out continuously throughout the academic year, helping children learn naturally without the pressure of memorising information solely for exams.
Continuous evaluation plays a vital role in understanding each child’s progress and identifying areas that require further support and improvement. It also enables teachers to enhance the overall teaching-learning process and create meaningful classroom experiences.
Assessments are designed to evaluate a child’s cognitive development at various levels, ranging from basic understanding to practical application and critical thinking skills. The Primary section follows a system of continuous and comprehensive assessment through Formative Assessments (FA) and Skill-Based Assessments (SA).
Regular written assessments are conducted through worksheets and classroom exercises, while skill-based evaluations are carried out through observation, project work, experiential activities, role play, and interactive tasks. These methods help determine whether the intended learning outcomes and developmental goals have been successfully achieved.
Learning Avenue's
Library
The library at Sri KKEC School is designed to inspire young learners to develop a lifelong love for reading and independent learning. The Primary section library houses a rich collection of books carefully curated for the interests and reading levels of children across different age groups. Weekly library periods are allocated to encourage regular reading and improve language skills from an early stage.
Students are introduced to the concept of borrowing books from the Primary years, helping them cultivate responsibility and reading discipline. The collection includes fiction, non-fiction, reference books, subject enrichment books, language resources, general knowledge, biographies, and value-based literature. In addition to the above mentioned, the library also provides access to dictionaries, encyclopaedias, magazines, newspapers, journals, and educational periodicals.
The library is thoughtfully organised with comfortable and open seating spaces for a welcoming atmosphere that motivates students to read, explore, and learn beyond the classroom.
Math Lab
The Math Lab at Sri KKEC School provides students with opportunities to understand mathematical concepts through practical and activity-based learning. Equipped with interactive materials, models, and mathematical tools, the lab helps children visualise concepts and apply them in meaningful ways.
Hands-on activities, puzzles, games, and experiments make learning mathematics enjoyable and engaging. The programme encourages logical reasoning, analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence in handling mathematical concepts.
Science Lab
The Science Lab encourages children to explore, observe, and discover the world around them through experiential learning. Young learners understand scientific concepts more effectively when they engage in practical activities rather than only learning through textbooks.
Students participate in simple experiments, demonstrations, outdoor explorations, and observation-based activities that stimulate curiosity and inquiry. Nature walks, environmental activities, and interactive projects help children connect classroom learning with real-life experiences while developing observation and critical thinking skills.
Shloka Chanting
Shloka chanting is an integral part of the learning experience at Sri KKEC School. This traditional practice helps students improve concentration, memory, pronunciation, and mental calmness. Regular chanting sessions also promote discipline, positivity, and emotional well-being.
Through this practice, children remain connected to Indian culture, values, and traditions while developing inner peace and mindfulness in their daily lives.
Mindfulness Programme
The Mindfulness Programme helps students develop emotional balance, self-awareness, and focus from an early age. Through guided mindfulness activities, breathing exercises, and moments of quiet reflection, children learn to understand and manage their thoughts and emotions effectively.
These sessions create a calm and positive learning environment that supports concentration, emotional regulation, confidence, and overall well-being. Mindfulness practices also help children become more attentive, resilient, and prepared to face everyday challenges with a positive mindset.

Wellbeing
Gratitude for Now (GROW)
In today’s world, mindfulness is an essential skill. It encourages empathy and understanding, fostering better relationships all around. With a view to promote mindfulness among students, Mindfulness Classes coined “GROW”, were introduced for grades 1 to 4 in 2026.
These classes are conducted regularly. There are specific exercises chalked out to focus on kindness and gratitude to help students build a cooperative and a peaceful classroom environment. Breathing exercises and mindful listening are also conducted to help them stay attentive, resulting in better classroom participation. These classes give students the opportunity to take a few minutes to pause in their busy student life and appreciate the things and people around them. Teachers facilitating this module feel that mindfulness helps students manage their stress with greater ease, navigate their emotions and develop a sense of inner calm in an increasingly fast-paced world.
During these classes, students are also encouraged to explore their relationship with the natural world. The activities include going through the Gratitude for Now (GROW) book specific to the grade.
Whilst teaching the same, teachers have also gained an insight into the minds of students, helping achieve better understanding and communication inside classrooms.
Chess
Chess puts your strategy and precision skills to the test. A trained coach provides regular training to children. This enhances the children’s memory and their problem-solving skills. Our chess players consistently outperform their peers in other areas as well.
Fitness
Every month, students participate in 8 sessions to improve their fitness in which they play an outdoor game of their choice. We also follow a curriculum that helps to increase their speed, endurance, strength, agility, flexibility, and stamina. These sessions provide comprehensive training and an assessment of every child’s physical health. The advantages are:
- Age-appropriate curriculum based on the specific needs of the school.
- Ensures that every child participates in sports activities.
- Educates children to live a healthy and active lifestyle.
- Usageof various props and equipment that makes fitness interesting for children.
Yoga

Sustainability
Waste Segragation
The SRI KK EDUCATION CENTRE believes in sustainable living, and inculcates this among students. One of the ways in which we take care of our surroundings is by generating less waste and segregating what we do generate. School staff and students are well trained in waste segregation, in the hope that they will carry this forward in their personal lives as well. Colour-coded waste bins are placed across the school campus for collecting different kinds of waste. Students are constantly reminded to follow the practice. We compost biodegradable waste generated at school to use as manure in our gardens.
Exploratory Learning
Outward Bound Programmes
Our students embark on chaperoned camping trips that allow them to feel at one with nature and experience and explore nature at its most raw and interesting version.
Field Trips
Field trips are an excellent approach to teach through hands-on experiences. Real-life experiences at historical monuments and significant sites can help youngsters learn about subjects such as art, history, and geography. To provide these learning opportunities, the school organises annual field trips. Students engage in engaging activities while exploring new ideas. They develop social skills through interactions with their teachers and peers outside of the classroom. Visits to the planetarium and the Banerghatta National Park were amongst our previous field excursions.
Gardening
The school has a thriving kitchen garden, which is managed by students with the assistance of the school gardener. Gardening is a fun way to learn about plants.
